Carl Cox – Artist Bio

Multimedia Visual Artist | Hudson Valley, NY

Carl Cox is a multimedia visual artist based in New York’s Hudson Valley whose work explores the intersection of memory, nature, and the unseen forces that shape identity. Working across film photography, digital photography, digital collage, and 3D rendering, Carl transforms quiet, often-overlooked moments into rich visual meditations on time, perception, and emotional truth. His imagery often dwells in liminal spaces—curtains stirring in abandoned rooms, forgotten artifacts, the soft decay of stillness—inviting viewers to linger with what is fragile, unresolved, or half-remembered.

Carl’s passion for photography began early, inspired by his father, a serious amateur photographer, and his maternal great-grandmother, who captured her world on film well into the 1980s. After receiving his first camera at age 11, Carl knew he wanted to merge analog photography with emerging digital technologies—a vision that continues to shape his artistic practice today.

A full-time commercial photographer since 2011, Carl’s work has been featured in Photoshop Layers Magazine, American Salon Magazine, Rockabilly Deluxe, and As If Magazine. He is a recipient of numerous honors from the Professional Photographers of America (PPA), including inclusion in the prestigious Imaging Excellence Collection. His award-winning photographs have been exhibited nationally and published in the PPA’s Loan Collection Book.

His recent exhibitions include solo and group shows at The Lace Mill (Kingston, NY), Roost Gallery (New Paltz, NY), the Arts Society of Kingston, and Woodland Pond Exhibition Gallery. Carl is also excited to be a part of Standpoint 4, continuing his journey of sharing work that invites conversation, reflection, and a sense of connection.
